Fruits and Vegetables
We grow and sell vegetables and small fruits through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. In a CSA model, customers purchase a "share" of the farm at the beginning of the season and receive 20 weeks (or so) of fresh vegetables and fruits that the farm produces. Customers gain access to their farmers, build rural/urban partnerships, support the local economy, and usually receive more vegetables than the same money could purchase in the store. However, they also agree to share in the farm's risks, which means that if weather or other circumstances kill the crops, they may not get as many vegetables as they planned for. As farmers, this arrangement gives us early season seed money (literally!) and some peace of mind about Mother Nature's wild hairs.
Our crop list includes, but isn't always limited to (or guaranteed):
artichoke, basil, beans, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, cilantro, cucumbers, dill, eggplant, kale, leeks, lettuce, melons, okra, onions, oregano, parsley, parsnips, peas, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, radish, rosemary, rutabaga, salad mix, spinach, squash (summer and winter), sweet corn, ornamental corn, thyme, tomatoes, turnips, pak choi, and others.
Meat and Eggs
Eggs, broilers, and stewing hens: Please call the farm for current pricing on any of these items.
Our laying flock and broilers are pastured on our farm, which means that our birds have shelter from the fox and the coyote at night, but spend most of their days outside in the fresh air. They eat bugs and grass (up to 30% of their summertime diet!), take dust baths, ruthlessly establish a working pecking order, and generally express their true chicken nature.
That may seem intuitive. . .but sadly, not all chickens are allowed to be chickens. Most store-bought eggs and meat comes from birds (even organic, free range labeled) that spend their lives cramped in confinement sheds with little, if any, access to the outdoors. We're proud to raise truly happy, honestly free range, birdbrains that don't need any medication to keep them healthy.
We would like to feed organic grain to our birds, but to date, the closest supplier of such organic chicken feed is in Iowa. It seems unethical to truck organic feed from Iowa into Weld County, where the amount of feed grain produced is what makes it one of the most productive agricultural counties in the nation, so we buy our feed from local producers. To improve quality, we have begun to move away from the standard feed mixes into custom feed blending, which allows us to keep unwanted feed additives away from our birds. We're also exploring the option of growing some of their feed ourselves.
So, our chickens and eggs are not technically organic. But we believe our pastured chickens and eggs are more ethically and naturally produced than any organic chicken in the grocery store. Come out to the farm and see for yourself.

- Turkeys
- We are currently growing a variety of heritage breed turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas sales. Turkeys should be preordered in the spring, but if you have missed getting an order in call the farm, we may have extras. Turkeys are grown in a similar pastured model as our chickens.
- Hogs
- We are in the process of developing our hog program.
Flowers
Flowers were our first crop, and we love to grow and sell them. Our flowers are available through our CSA programs as assorted stems or bouquet subscriptions. We also have wholesale availability for florists, grocery stores, and re-wholesalers.
- Our varieties include:
- amaranth, sunflowers, queen anne's lace, salvia, gomphrena, gladiola, snapdragon, rudbeckia, sorghum, snow on the mountain, zinnia, butterfly bush, peonies, cosmos, and many others.
Floral Arrangements, Fundraisers, and Events
During the growing season, we can create floral arrangements for weddings, parties, fundraisers, and other special events. Claire (as the resident floral designer) is happy to collaborate on custom designs to suit your tastes.
